On October 7, 2024, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Founder and Chairman of the World Economic Forum (WEF) Prof. Klaus Schwab visited Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU) and engaged students in conversation on the topic "Positioning Viet Nam in the Intelligent age - Next generation visionaries" at VNU Nguyen Van Dao Hall.

Speaking at the event, VNU President Le Quan expressed his honor and pride in that Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and leaders from ministries, departments and central agencies once again paid a working visit to VNU. VNU was also greatly honored to welcome Prof. Klaus Schwab, Chairman of the World Economic Forum, the main shaper of global economic trends, and his spouse.VNU always takes great pride in being one of the leading education and research institutions in the country, a pioneer in implementing the policies and strategic directions of the Party and Government in education and science. In line with the spirit of the 13th National Congress Resolution, VNU has actively participated in the national digital transformation process, making significant contributions to training high-quality human resources to meet the country’s development needs in the context of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
During the event, Prof. Klaus Schwab gave an overview of the forces shaping the world, highlighting the increasingly dynamic and complex factors that present both challenges and opportunities for all countries, including Vietnam.
He emphasized the essential elements for an intelligent age, namely digital infrastructure, human resource capabilities, business ecosystems, public-private partnerships, and global integration and cooperation. Besides technology, the real opportunity lies in the human factor. According to the Professor, Vietnam's true advantage will depend on building a knowledge-based economy that encompasses not only skills and professional capabilities but also environmental, social, and geopolitical advantages - all crucial elements for a prosperous society and inclusive development.
"I believe that an intelligent age must be a period of development for people, serving people and with people at its center," stated Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.
Elaborating on the challenges and opportunities for developing countries, including Vietnam, in the current context, the Prime Minister noted that sustainable and inclusive development based on the application of modern science and technology, as well as strong promotion of entrepreneurship and innovation, is an inevitable trend and a top priority for the world today.
According to the PM, in the intelligent age, it is necessary for Vietnam to improve institutions, train a high-quality workforce, develop modern and harmonious infrastructure, mobilize all available resources for development, and promote technology transfer and management capacity.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh also hoped that Vietnamese students and youth would promote the glorious historical and cultural traditions, bravely face difficulties and challenges, overcome obstacles, and possess an appropriate mindset, methodology and approach to address the issues at hand, play a pioneering role and confidently step into the intelligent age, making contributions to the country’s future development.
