11.     Tóm tắt các kết quả mới của luận án: 
- Luận án là một trong những công trình đầu tiên nghiên cứu chuyên sâu về báo chí đối với vấn đề cải cách hiện đại hóa Hải quan ở Việt Nam, phù hợp và cần thiết trong bối cảnh Chính phủ và các bộ ngành tăng cường cải cách, đổi mới hoạt động quản lý để đáp ứng mục tiêu vừa phục vụ tốt hơn nhu cầu của xã hội, vừa nâng cao năng lực hiệu quả nền hành chính quốc gia trong thời kỳ phát triển và hội nhập quốc tế hiện nay.
- Luận án sử dụng kết hợp các phương pháp nghiên cứu chuyên ngành và liên ngành của báo chí truyền thông, xã hội học truyền thông đại chúng, gồm 06 phương pháp chính như sau: Phương pháp nghiên cứu tài liệu; Phương pháp phân tích nội dung; Phương pháp điều tra xã hội học bằng bảng hỏi; Phương pháp phỏng vấn sâu; Phương pháp nghiên cứu trường hợp; Phương pháp so sánh. Đồng thời, Luận án vận dụng các Lý thuyết “Thiết lập Chương trình nghị sự”, lý thuyết “Đóng khung”, lý thuyết “Sử dụng và Hài lòng” để tiến hành nghiên cứu.
- Đề tài luận án có phạm vi nghiên cứu mới đối với 6 cơ quan báo chí ở Việt Nam (2 loại hình báo in và báo điện tử), theo đó tập trung nghiên cứu, đánh giá một cách cụ thể, có hệ thống thực trạng thông tin của báo chí, rút ra thành công và hạn chế và nguyên nhân của thành công và hạn chế của báo chí khi phản ánh về vấn đề cải cách hiện đại hóa Hải quan Việt Nam. 
- Luận án đã tiến hành khảo sát công chúng bằng bảng hỏi, phỏng vấn sâu, nghiên cứu trường hợp để đánh giá vai trò, tác động của báo chí đối với vấn đề cải cách hiện đại hóa Hải quan Việt Nam.
- Số liệu, kết quả nghiên cứu, kết luận không trùng lặp với các luận án đã bảo vệ trong và ngoài nước; không trùng lặp với các công trình khoa học của các tác giả khác đã công bố trong và ngoài nước.
- Luận án phân tích một số vấn đề đặt ra, từ đó đề xuất các giải pháp cần thiết để nâng cao vai trò, chất lượng, hiệu quả tác động của báo chí đối với vấn đề cải cách hiện đại hóa Hải quan Việt Nam, phù hợp với xu thế phát triển của báo chí hiện đại, xu thế cải cách đổi mới của Hải quan trên thế giới, cũng như đáp ứng sự phát triển nhanh chóng của hoạt động thương mại quốc tế giữa Việt Nam và các nước trên thế giới. 
12.    Khả năng ứng dụng trong thực tiễn:
- Luận án là tài liệu tham khảo hữu ích cho các nhà hoạch định chính sách, lãnh đạo, quản lý báo chí, các nhà báo, các cơ quan hành chính Nhà nước, ngành Hải quan, nghiên cứu viên, giảng viên tại các cơ sở đào tạo và nghiên cứu báo chí, truyền thông. 
- Luận án giúp các cơ quan quản lý Nhà nước, trong đó có ngành Hải quan có thêm cơ sở khoa học để đánh giá kết quả của quá trình truyền thông, rút ra thành công, hạn chế của báo chí và nguyên nhân của thành công và hạn chế, từ đó nâng cao vai trò của báo chí để vừa phục vụ tốt hơn nhu cầu của công chúng, vừa thúc đẩy hoạt động đổi mới, cải cách hiện đại hóa của cơ quan quản lý Nhà nước hướng tới phục vụ lợi ích của người dân, doanh nghiệp và cộng đồng xã hội. 
- Đối với các cơ quan báo chí, luận án là tài liệu tham khảo để các cơ quan báo chí, truyền thông ở Việt Nam vận dụng vào thực tiễn xây dựng kế hoạch thông tin về hoạt động của cơ quan quản lý Nhà nước, nhằm khẳng định và nâng cao vai trò của mình trong tham gia giải quyết các vấn đề kinh tế xã hội thời sự hiện nay.
13.     Những hướng nghiên cứu tiếp theo:
Từ kết quả nghiên cứu của đề tài luận án, có thể mở ra những hướng nghiên cứu tiếp theo của NCS để bổ sung và hoàn thiện hơn nữa kết quả nghiên cứu của đề tài này. Dự kiến các hướng nghiên cứu trong tương lai như:
- Mở rộng khảo sát thông tin báo chí ở các loại hình phát thanh, truyền hình; mở rộng khảo sát công chúng là công chức Hải quan và các cơ quan Nhà nước có liên quan, doanh nghiệp, người dân tại tất cả các địa bàn có hoạt động giao lưu thương mại quốc tế, để đánh giá sâu về vai trò, hiệu quả truyền thông về cải cách hiện đại hóa Hải quan của Việt Nam. 
- Mở rộng nghiên cứu vai trò, tác động của truyền thông trên các nền tảng mạng xã hội về cải cách hiện đại hóa Hải quan. Bởi lẽ kết quả nghiên cứu của luận án cũng cho thấy truyền thông xã hội được công chúng ưu chuộng khi tiếp cận thông tin. Các cơ quan Hải quan trên thế giới hiện nay cũng chú trọng truyền thông trên các nền tảng mảng xã hội.  
- Hướng mở rộng nghiên cứu, đánh giá về báo chí truyền thông đối với những hoạt động, chính sách công có tác động mật thiết tới quyền và lợi ích của cộng đồng nhằm rút ra những bài học kinh nghiệm về lý luận và thực tiễn cho các cơ quan hành chính Nhà nước nói chung và ngành Hải quan nói riêng.

11. Summary of new results of the thesis:
    - The thesis is one of the first works of in-depth journalism research on the issue of Customs reform and modernization in Vietnam, appropriate and necessary in the context of the Government and ministries strengthening reform for the management activities to meet the goal of both better serving the needs of society and improving the effective capacity of the national administration in the current period of development and international integration.
- The thesis uses a combination of specialized and interdisciplinary research methods of journalism and media, sociology of mass communication, including 06 main methods as follows: Document research method; Content analysis method; Method of sociological survey by questionnaire; In-depth interview method; Case study method; and Comparative method. At the same time, the thesis use the “Agenda Setting Theory”, the “Framework Theory” and the “Use and Gratification Theory” to conduct the research.
- The thesis title have a new survey scope for  6 press agencies in Vietnam, including print and online newspapers. Accordingly, the thesis focuses on specific and comprehensive research and assessment of the current state of press information, drawing out successes and limitations and the causes of the successes and the limitations of the press when reflecting on the issue of reform and modernization of Vietnam Customs. 
- The thesis conducts a public survey by questionnaires, in-depth interviews, and case study to evaluate the role and impact of the press on the issue of reform and modernization of Vietnam Customs.
- Research data and results and conclusions neither overlap with defended theses at home and abroad; nor overlap with scientific works of other authors published domestically and internationally.
- The thesis analyzes a number of raised issues, thereby proposing necessary solutions to improve the role, quality, and effectiveness of the press impact on the reform and modernization of Vietnam Customs, meeting the development trend of modern journalism, the reform trend of Customs administration around the world, as well as the rapid development of international trade activities between Vietnam and the above countries in the world.
12. Practical applicability:
- The thesis is a useful reference for policymakers, leaders, press managers, journalists, State administrative agencies, Customs industry, researchers, and lecturers at journalism and communications training and research facilities.
- The thesis helps State management agencies, including the Customs sector, have more scientific basis to evaluate the results of the communication process, draw out the successes and limitations of the press and the causes of the successes and limitations, thereby enhancing the role of the press to both better serve the needs of the public and boost the reform and modernization of State management agencies towards serving the benefits of people, businesses and social communities.
For press agencies, the thesis is a reference document for press and media agencies in Vietnam to apply in practice in building communication plans on the activities of state management agencies, to affirm and enhance their role in participating in solving current socio-economic issues.
13. Future research directions:
From the research results of the thesis title, it is possible to open up following research directions for the PhD student to supplement and further improve the research results of this title. Expected future research directions as follows:
- Expand press information surveys in all types of radio and television; expand the survey to the public including Customs officials and relevant State agencies, businesses, and people in all areas with international trade activities to deeply assess the role and effective communication on Vietnam's Customs modernization and reform.
- Expand research on the role and impact of media on social networking platforms on Customs reform and modernization. Because the research results of the thesis also show that social media is favored by the public when accessing information. Customs administrations around the world today also focus on communication on social platforms.
- Expand research and evaluation of the media to activities and public policies that have impact on the rights and interests of the community in order to draw theoretical and practical experiences for State administrative agencies and the Customs sector.
